PART
FOUR CONTINUED
Connal
was in the dark. He hated the dark; it was always cold and full of
strange dangerous noises. Although there were no dangerous noises in
this dark it was just as bad because neither mother nor father
nor anyone else was there. That was why there were scared tears
trickling down his cheeks and his little scared body was trembling.
There
was a sound in front of him. Someone was coming. Someone was coming
with a light.
“Mummy?”
Connal said, timidly, but as the figure drew closer he saw that,
although the advancing form was feminine, it was not his mother.
Mother was short and had dark brown hair which she plaited every day
whereas this lady was very tall and had loose red hair. She came and
knelt in front of him.
“Hello
little boy.” she smiled and set down her light, “Do you like
chocolate?”
